Always check with your doctor(s) to be guided on what exercises & positions are safe for your health & wellness with your specific conditions. Know your limitations, that is something only you can do.
Eventually yoga practitioners start learning to do up-side down poses, inversions. Be sure to ask your doctor about clearance to do this. Especially with conditions related to pregnancy, cardiovascular, head/spine/neck injury, headaches, dizziness & eye issues. If you are uncertain, you should not do inversions. Inversions are not performed for those on their menses or vaginal bleeding.
During a regular yoga class, do not force poses & do not force yourself. Warm-up before class & help prevent injury & access the poses. You should have some effort & stretch but no pain, burn, sharp or ripping. If you notice it does, careful release the pose. Seek medical attention & clearance to continue or return with yoga. Rest & reflect on what may have occurred.
Restorative yoga is for deep rest. It compliments your regular practice. Restorative yoga is often helpful if you cannot do your regular practice for a time, for varied reasons. There is always something we can do to add to our cup.
